Member of the Parliament of Montenegro and the Chairperson of the Committee on Comprehensive Reform of Electoral and Other Legislation during the previous convocation, Mr Branimir Gvozdenović, participated today in the online ODIHR final conference, on the occasion of the project "Support to Elections in the Western Balkans". Mr Gvozdenović presented the work on the reform of the electoral legislation during the previous convocation. He also stressed the importance of the support provided to the Parliament of Montenegro by the OSCE/ODIHR, i.e. their experts, who made an immeasurable contribution to the work of this committee and working groups.
He pointed out that despite the fact that the Committee did not complete the work in accordance with the Decision, plenty of work was done, and noted that visible progress had been with regard to the electoral legislation.
Furthermore, Mr Gvozdenović stated that there still existed room for improvement, especially due to the non-adoption of the Law on Election of Councillors and MPs, which was considered the "umbrella" law within this area. In this regard, he informed the participants that in the new convocation, members of DPS would immediately initiate work on further reform of the electoral legislation.
