Discussion: A century of the rise of fascism - What have we learned?

Discussion on "A century of the rise of fascism - What have we learned?" is organised on the occasion of the Day of Victory over Fascism.

The discussion will be about which political, social and economic preconditions have been favourable for the emergence of fascism; what has remained unnoticed and what did the social elites of that time let pass; how did Montenegro respond to the emergence of fascism; are there modern forms of fascism present today in modern societies and what are the obligations of political and intellectual elites in their prevention?

In addition to the President of the Parliament, Mr Ivan Brajović, the introductory speeches will be delivered by Academician Mr Zuvdija Hodžić, President of SUBNOR and antifascists of Montenegro, Mr Hrvoje Klasić, historian from Zagreb, an assistant professor at the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, Mr Milan Šćekić, a historian, teaching assistant at the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nikšić, and Mr Andrej Nikolaidis, a writer and columnist. Mr Dragutin Papović, historian and Member of the Parliament of Montenegro, will moderate the discussion. Representatives of MP groups of the Parliament of Montenegro will also take part in the discussion.

For the third consecutive year, the Parliament of Montenegro has marked Day of Victory over Fascism and Europe Day with discussions on topics of wider social significance, and in relation to undisputed and current anti-fascist values.

The following day, Thursday, 9 May, at 9:00, the President of the Parliament, Mr Ivan Brajović, will traditionally head a delegation in order to lay wreath at the Monument of the Partisan Fighter in Gorica.
